Our facial aesthetics team can help you with the latest wrinkle reduction treatment!
The majority of the blogs that you will read on our site will be about dental care, both general and cosmetic; but today we’ll take a closer look at the work of our facial aesthetics team.
With cosmetic dentistry now becoming relatively commonplace, helping patients to achieve the smile they once could only have dreamed of; it is perhaps not too surprising that more and more of our Canterbury patients are also now turning to facial aesthetics to also improve their overall appearance.
The combination of a sparkling white smile and smoother, younger looking skin can make a really significant improvement to your appearance, and we can help you to achieve just that at Bradley and Partners Dental and Implant Clinic!
Is wrinkle reduction treatment safe?
This is very often the first question that we are asked by patients who are considering this treatment. This isn’t really surprising considering how some in the media love to sensationalise treatments that have gone wrong, especially where celebrities are concerned.
Without a doubt, some of these treatments have gone badly wrong, but this should never be the case if they are carried out correctly. It is impossible to say what the reason for these were but inexperienced or unqualified practitioners are a likely reason, and, where extreme improvements were insisted upon, it may well be that the promise of money encouraged some to cross the line as far as safety and ethics are concerned.
Will you be safe having it done at our Canterbury practice?
Absolutely. We pride ourselves on taking care of our patients and would do nothing that puts a patient at risk.
We insist that anti wrinkle treatment begins with a consultation and during this we will ask you questions to ascertain your suitability for this procedure. If there are any doubts about your safety at all, or if a patient asks us to do something that we think is unethical, we will simply refuse. This is rare though, and most patients are able to have the treatment that they have requested.
All of our staff are fully qualified and experienced at carrying out this procedure.
What happens during the treatment?
Once you have had your initial consultation and assuming you are suitable, your treatment can commence.
First of all, our facial aesthetics team will ensure that you are relaxed before we inject anything into the required areas of your skin. Understandably, it is this part that some dislike the idea of; however, the needle that is used is very fine though and only enters just beneath the skin. You may feel nothing much at all, and at worst, a tiny prick as the skin is pierced. The serum is then injected into that area.
How does it work?
The anti wrinkle serum that we inject under your skin works by blocking signals to the nerves and allows your skin to relax. Please do not be concerned about the ‘frozen face’ appearance that you may have seen in the press as this is the result of the procedure being done incorrectly. You can be sure that you will be in good hands at Bradley and Partners Dental and Implant Clinic in Canterbury and our team are highly skilled and experienced in these types of procedures.
Does it take long?
No, the actual treatment usually takes between ten and twenty minutes and, within a week, you should start to notice the results. The effects will last for a number of months and can be repeated safely time and again, should you wish to do so.
Are there any side effects?
We will check your general health before any treatment starts to ensure that you are a suitable candidate. Most patients have no side effects other than to feel the slight prick as the needle enters. Some people may experience very minor localised bruising though, and you may wish to consider the timing of your treatment, bearing this in mind.
What are the benefits?
The obvious benefit is that you will have younger and smoother looking skin and this in itself is what many people aim for. Looking younger though, can sometimes help you to feel younger too, and we often hear stories from patients who find a whole new realm of opportunities have opened up for them following new found confidence.
Many patients who have this treatment do also undergo cosmetic dental procedures, with teeth whitening perhaps being the most common. A combination of a brighter smile and smoother looking skin is certainly something worth considering.
