Dental Gifts For Christmas?
It may be a little early, but why not consider presents to promote oral care this Christmas
The first signs may have only just appeared which indicate that Christmas is not too far away, but as every year, it will be upon us before we know it. Many of us will then be scrambling to do some last minute shopping for presents for our friends and family. All too often, these last minute gifts can be a little ‘make do’, as a lack of time doesn’t allow us to consider the most appropriate present for everyone.
To help you out a little, we asked the team at Bradley and Partners Dental & Implant Clinic for some dental related gifts that our Canterbury patients might wish to buy; whether that be for a significant present, or simply an extra little gift for the stocking.
Electric toothbrush
Although we know that many of you have already moved to using an electric toothbrush, there are always people who are late adopters and may be manually brushing their teeth instead. Part of the reason for this may be financial so this might be a great opportunity to introduce them to the benefits of an electric toothbrush. Whilst manual ones may be adequate, most dentists now agree that an electric one is more efficient at removing food deposits and bacteria from the teeth. Once they have tried your new gift, your friend or relative is unlikely to move back!
Water flosser
For the person who absolutely refuses to floss! We know that flossing is only carried out by around one in five people in the UK. Some may consider it unnecessary (it definitely is necessary!), whilst others are likely to have tried it but found it difficult to do and refuse to try again. Although we don’t believe that water flossers are as effective as good old floss, it is certainly better than nothing at all. There are a wide range of these available and you should be able to find one within your budget.
Dental travel pack
If you know people that travel a lot, there is a good chance that they forget to pack a toothbrush from time to time, sometimes meaning that they don’t brush their teeth for a few days. Why not either buy a travel pack or be creative and make one yourself. To any attractive packaging, you can add a toothbrush, floss, toothpaste, sugar free chewing gum and even an emergency tooth filling pack. There are many small things that you could add to this and it would provide an ‘everything in one place’ solution for tooth care when the time comes to pack for another trip, whether home or abroad.
Cheese selection
All too often, last minute Xmas gifts tend to be sweets and chocolates. There isn’t a problem with these in themselves, but we know that they can be harmful to our teeth. It is inevitable that most of us will let our guard down a bit around the festive season, but it can be nice for us to have other options, other than chocolates and sweets when we are watching TV. Cheese offers a positive alternative to sweets not only in that it reduces the amount of sugar consumed, but especially when eaten at the end of a meal, cheese helps to rebalance the PH in our mouth, thereby reducing any acidity that could be harmful to the enamel on our teeth. Acidity can often lead to premature enamel erosion which can contribute to tooth decay and sensitive teeth.
Teeth whitening
While the above are ideal stocking fillers, you might wish to consider dental treatment as a more significant gift. Most likely, this will be one of our popular cosmetic treatments. Whilst the whole range, including teeth implants, orthodontics etc are available, perhaps the most popular is our teeth whitening procedure. This fast acting and effective treatment can help you have a great looking smile at a reasonable price. You may even want to send them this gift a little early so that they can look their best over the festive season. Our Canterbury team of dentists is here to help and can offer advice on when best to book for this treatment in order to achieve the best result by Christmas.
Facial aesthetics
Similarly, a facial aesthetics treatment is an excellent gift. Our wrinkle reduction treatments are increasingly popular and can help to smooth the skin, leaving a younger looking face.
Good luck with your search for Christmas presents. If you need any help with the dental suggestions or would like to talk to us about providing the gift of a treatment, please contact Bradley and Partners Dental & Implant Clinic for further information on 01227 463529.
